In April and May, the tulip fields in the Netherlands burst colourfully into full bloom. The Flower Strip or ‘Bollenstreek’ is one of the most popular and unique sights to see.
Stretching for 20km between Haarlem and Leiden, the Flower Strip is home to the worlds famous Dutch tulip fields. It’s no wonder that the Netherlands produces a staggering 70% of the world’s commercial flowers.
As far as the eye can see, across the North of Holland there are fields of colourful flowers in all varieties, including the tulip. Most of these fields are just on the side of the roads. We drove south of Amsterdam, towards Rotterdam and saw just some of the fields. It’s definitely a unique and beautiful sight to see and a highlight of our trip in the Netherlands.
To see these amazing colourful fields, head to Lisse, Noordwijkerhout or check out Keukenhof Gardens.
